Brand Identity

The Apple logo is one of the most recognizable brand identities worldwide. The logo from 1976 to 1998 had coloured stripes to represent the fact the monitor could produce images in colour. Apple then discontinued the rainbow theme and introduced the monochromatic theme; the shape was still identical to the previous rainbow apple. An aqua themed version used from 2001-2003; the glass themed version has been used since 2003. Throughout the years the logo has been adjusted however the shape has stayed almost identical therefore I believe the apple shape is the most important part of this logo as it has become recognizable worldwide. The logo is clean cut, modern and simple which makes it one of the most successful global logos.

The McDonalds logo is used worldwide and one of the most successful global brands. The shape of the McDonalds logo is an ‘M’ this is identified globally hence the logo being a simple golden ‘M’ which reflects the name of the food chain. The two colours McDonalds always use are golden and red. This makes the logo bold, powerful and a strong corporate image. The font used is simple and defines the bold picture of the firm. The simpler the font the more memorable, these three design elements make the logo successful and easily recognizable.

The Coca-Cola logo is an example of a widely recognised trademark representing a global brand. The simple use of colour is very effective, the colour red is immediately thought of when the word Coca-Cola is said. The colour is only changed for the different types of Coca-Cola for example Coca-Cola light and Coca-Cola zero. Even then only one colour is changed, this makes the brand extremely recognizable, as the appearance never changes drastically. The font used is never changed, as this is the main part of the logo, the curly italic font even when used spelling a different word makes you think of Coca-Cola.

  4. The continuous transformation in the existing brand for a particular business firm is always necessary as it resemble fresh ideas and also helps in building a brand identity more popular among the people. However, the case studies shared above are quite good to explain this phenomenon.
